What do the letters in the model number mean?


The 1st Letter relates to the head-unit or audiovisual "Source Type", for example:

"A" Means: Radio Cassette

"D" Means: CD player

"M" Means: MD player

"T" Means: Television

"VR" Means: Visual & Radio

The 2nd letter following any of the above confirms the products "Classification" e.g.

"B" Means: "Boundary" - the head-unit has a limited level of system expansion.

"C" Means: "Changer" - sometimes known as "Autochanger" or "Disc jockey"

"S" Means: "Slave" A product totally dependent on a head-unit (Source Unit) for operation

"X" Means: "X-pander" - the head unit is designed for system expansion, e.g. it can control a remote Disc Jockey / Autochanger

The 3rd Letter, if there is one, verifies the level of "Bus" (connectivity)

"Z" Means: "Ce-Net" If there is not a 3rd letter proceeding the letter "X" the head-unit has "C-Bus"

Ce-Net: This level of connectivity says that the head-unit is capable of controlling several peripheral products: DAB Tuner, TV Tuner, 5.1 sound surround processor, as well as Disc Jockey and a lot more…

"C -Bus" This is a simplified version of connectivity, which promotes use of a remote Disc Jockey only.

The 1st numeric reference reflects on the products' feature level, it can be likened for example to BMW's numbering system, the bigger the number the larger the car: in our case it's the same, the bigger the number the more features you get but be assured, no matter what level you choose, there is never any compromise on quality.

The 2nd numeric reference confirms the model year e.g.

1 - 2001

2 - 2002

3 - 2003

The 3rd numeric reference provides a guidance of playback media for example:

The number 3 or 4 confirms analogue Cassette whereas 8 or 9 verifies Digital, that is Compact Disc.
